As a community-focused school, with tuition based on the state-average (considerably lower than most local public schools), The Sharon Academy depends on friends and neighbors of the school to bring in outside skills and information for our students. For the 2008-09 school year, we are particularly looking for:
Lacrosse Coaches: We need both a boys and girls varsity lacrosse coach for the Spring of 2009. Practices are held after school 4-5 days a week, with practices on Wednesdays earlier in the afternoon (if held). Stipend is offered. Please contact Rob Stainton at rstainton@sharonacademy.net for more information.
Elective Teachers: The Sharon Academy prides itself in offering a wide range of elective courses - from the arts to outdoor education, to music and specific acedemic courses like Economics or Chinese History. If you have knowledge or a skill that you would love to share with local students, please contact Christa Wurm at 802-763-2500x120 or cwurm@sharonacademy.net for more information about how to get involved. Elective courses offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:15-3:15, can be taught by quarter or semester depending on curriculum.
Send in your Resume: If we do not have any openings in your area of expertise, but you feel that you could be a great addition to our school, please feel free to send in your resume with brief cover letter to The Sharon Academy, PO Box 207, Sharon VT 05065.
Energy and The Environment Science Class Presents...Information on Carbon Footprints. Our seniors in the Energy and the Environment course at The Sharon Academy are working hard to put together succinct presentations on carbon ouputs and carbon sinks. We invite you join us during our class time at TSA's high school campus in Moore Hall - our large meeting room - to share what we've learned. The overwhelming topic of anthropogenic carbon has been divided into seven sectors for the first seminars. Our final two seminars address how to reduce our carbon footprint. In each seminar, student presenters will be examining the individual's contribution, carbon contributions from the business or organizational level, and carbon at the regional level.
Please check out the presentations as they are listed in the Calendar section of this website. Come, watch, and learn from our students as they explore these pertinent topics of today. If you are able and planning to attend one of these sessions, please RSVP to btonks@sharonacademy.net so we can ensure enough materials and seats are provided.
Parent Meetings: All TSA parents are encouraged to attend one of four regional round table discussions concerning The Sharon Academy and future plans for the school. Led by the Board of Trustees at The Sharon Academy, we are looking for parent input as we move forward. Please let Elly Boerke know if you are able to attend one of the following meetings by writing her at eboerke@sharonacademy.net:
