Student Travel

Current Study Abroad Opportunities:

TSA  students can take advantage of the many “study abroad” programs offered to them.  Please refer to the proceedure below to begin your planning proces.  Additionally, please click on the following link to download the Guide for Planning Travel Study Handbook and contact our Traveling Student Coordinator, Florence Tolbert , email: ftolbert@sharonacademy.net, tel: 802.763.2500 x112.

PROCEDURE

  1. Begin your planning at least a year before you plan to travel, if possible.
  2. Look at the TSA four-year sequence of classes and note what classes will be missed.
  3. Work closely with TSA to make sure your overall high school and college plans are thoroughly analyzed. This conversation should begin with the advisor and with the Traveling Student Coordinator, Florence Tolbert. This document can assist in the analysis.
  4. TSA may grant permission for students to participate in travel study programs, but will not commit to reserving a space at TSA upon their return.
  5. Make a timely appointment with the Head of School to approve your plan.

* Student travel has significant costs associated with it for The Sharon Academy. The travel coordinator’s supervision of the program, the regular need for faculty to work additional hours to get students prepared to leave and caught up when they return, and most significantly, TSA’s loss of student tuition for the semester/year of travel, add up to a substantial financial impact on our school’s already lean budget.

In considering travel, please plan a contribution to TSA to help offset some of the costs or resources expended to make your travel experience successful.  A minimum contribution of $500 is suggested.

Please stop in and talk with Jenn Hayslett, Senior Director for Development and Communications, or contact her at Jhayslett@sharonacademy.net or 763.2500 x106, to learn more about how you can support TSA during your travel experience and beyond.
