French I-V

French I students begin their work in Discovering French Bleu, a computer and text-based program using oral games and exercises to enhance the learning of French.  Students are introduced to the basic workings of French syntax.  They formulate their own verb notebooks and are encouraged to communicate in French as much as possible.

French II and III students continue with Discovering French Blanc. The program emphasizes oral skills, but also moves into reading stories in French.  Their grammar work includes the past and future tenses, and the intricacies of the French language. French is used on a regular basis class.
French IV students concentrate on civilizations and French conversation. Discovering French Rouge introduces students to the history, geography, literature, arts and current events of the many French-speaking communities in the world. Students start reading level appropriate books in French and are responsible for several oral presentations.
Students write on a regular basis and are expected to use French as their primary language in class.

French V students will spend more time studying advanced grammar and perfecting writing, speaking and listening comprehension skills. Students will use the Discovering French Rouge book as a resource, supplemented by French books, articles, films or other media. All materials and discussions are in French.
