Congratulations also to TSA’s Ultimate Team who went to States.  The team finished 10th over all, and had a lot of fun along the way. Thanks to all of the parents who drove the middle school to and from High 5 two weeks ago.  Also, thank you for sending us off with such a delicious variety of snacks.  Much appreciated. Thank You Junior Class Parents: Each year the Junior Class parents are responsible for organizing graduation and the following reception for approximately 500 attendees. This is a wonderful tradition and we thank the Junior Parents for enthusiastically preparing for this milestone event for our Seniors each year. A very hearty “Thank You!”  goes out to sophomore Jacob Mayer for constructing the new flag pole on the Sharon village green in time to hoist the flag in celebration of Memorial Day!  Sharon’s Village Green has been without a flagpole since last fall.  Jacob’s devotion to fulfilling his commitment to community service went above and beyond.  It has been reported that the 30+ foot pine tree was felled on his property and allowed to dry out over the winter.  Jacob removed the bark, sanded, painted, and then enlisted family help to deliver the pole last Wednesday.  Community volunteers were on hand to help erect the pole – including Leon Sheldon, Donna Foster, and Jacob’s father John.  Mona Foster provided moral support.  Thank you also to the Masons for their financial support for this project.  Players like this continue to make the Sharon community one great “Home Run”. Good luck Middle Schoolers on your Science Fair tonight at 6:30.  Students have been working on their projects for over 8 weeks. General News Parents Please Help Us Count Your Volunteer Hours: This is an end-of-the-year reminder that we would like to have an accurate understanding of how much time parents give to TSA. This information supports us when we are applying for grants and planning our budget....

We recognize that many of you experienced a power-outage the night before your presentation which was not in your plans, and we celebrate you for your flexibility. Thank you Juniors for your attention, effort and good humor during the state testing last week.  The three days of testing were long, and we appreciate all that you did to maintain your concentration. Thank you to Ethan Silovich and Lori Mikusa for planing the daffodils that you see blooming around our sign as you drive up our hill. Congratulations to Junior Laurel Mendelson and freshmen Alexxy Kendall who finished in the top five at last weekend’s Brain Bee. Thirty upper valley students participated in this year’s Brain Bee at Dartmouth College.  There were workshops that revolved around Neuroscience and then formal written exams.  Laurel and Alexxy earned their placement based on their understanding of the material and wonderful assessment results. General News Be careful in the warm weather: It is hot and sunny.  Please remember to put on sun screen often and drink lots of water.  Also remember that the ticks and poison ivy are also out. Senior Exhibitions, Monday, May 11th

Posted by on May 8, 2015 in High School, Newsletter

Senior Exhibitions Monday, May 11, 2015    It’s Senior Exhibition time again!  This year’s Seniors are presenting on topics as diverse as  “Psychological Impacts of Advertising” to “National Parks” and “Women in Engineering”.  For a full list of topics, please click here. For those of you who aren’t familiar with TSA’s Senior Exhibition process, here’s a primer: TSA students are required to complete and present two exhibitions, one in each their junior and senior years. Exhibitions prepare our students for life beyond high school by encouraging students to work independently, think creatively, synthesize information from a variety of sources, research complex topics and confidently present to an audience. In addition, exhibitions allow students to research deeply into a subject about which they are passionate.  In effect, students get to design (and subsequently teach) their own course in the topic of their choosing. Exhibitions contain a written, visual and oral component. Assessment is based on all written material as well as the knowledge and skill demonstrated in an oral presentation. Exhibition topics are chosen by the students with guidance from the faculty. Presentations are given before an audience of faculty, peers and community members.  Please join us in wishing our Seniors well on their...
