First Ever Chalk and Chowder Festival

This Thursday, September 25th on the Green in SoRo

During the day South Royalton’s center will be turned into a street art “canvas” along with the town’s weekly farmer’s market, a musical performance (at 5:30 pm), and annual community potluck Stone Soup meal (at 4:00 pm). Come join in the fun and support TSA and SoRo student artists!

A section of street abutting the South Royalton Green will be roped off, and a group of student artists from TSA and SoRo will work on their planned chalk pieces through the whole day. (The artist, Katie Runde, will be leading the event. You can see some of Katie’s cool 3-D chalk creations here: http://www.katierunde.com/category/chalk/).

The event is sponsored by Artistree, BALE, Hurricane Flats, The Royalton Chowder Society, The Sharon Academy, The South Royalton Market, The South Royalton School, Vermont Council on the Arts and The Vermont Independent School of the Arts.

Veggies and volunteers are still needed to make the stone soup! You can either come and help chop veggies at noon on the green or bring bags of chopped clean veggies to TSA on Wednesday. Any veggies are good, but no beets, please! Lots of veggies needed.

Please email Jenn Hayslett for more information at jhayslett@sharonacademy.net.

Middle School Update

Video Taping:  Please note that the middle school staff will be openly video taping some classes at the middle school only.  One purpose of the videos is to for teachers to self evaluate their instruction to inform their teaching practices.  Another purpose is to allow students to view their individual participation and body language during class.  Students will be aware of the videotaping.  If a video is used for student instruction, feedback will be done with that student individually in a private setting.  Once we have finished using a video for teacher and/or individual student instruction it will be deleted.  If you have a concern or question please contact Pam Ward
