Sports

Our after-school sports program includes soccer, basketball, baseball, Ultimate and track. Many students also participate on a rock climbing team. Each winter, we partner with Saskadena Six Ski Area to provide an opportunity for students
to ski there on Wednesday afternoons.

Additionally, if a students wishes to play a sport that TSA does not offer (for instance: Football or Girl’s Lacross) the Vermont Principals Association provides opportunities for students to play that sport with another school..

Community Service

An essential part of The Sharon Academy’s mission is to“awaken students to their immense potential and the difference they can make in the world.”

TSA’s Community Service requirement challenges students to expand their definition of “community” to involve a larger portion of their world than just their school or their family. Additionally, it helps students realize that their contribution can make a difference, while also fostering a habit of service. Through Community Service, students also have the opportunity to pursue their interests, meet potential mentors, and develop skills and contacts that will help them well into the future. Students will be informed of both school and community related opportunities as the year progresses. The TSA newsletter will keep you informed of additional opportunities.

As of the 2018-19 school year, our students are required to complete a minimum of 40 hours by the end of 8th grade. Learn more about Community Service at TSA.

Extra Curricular Competitions

Middle school teams have competed in the MathCounts competition and in the Department of Energy sponsored National Science Bowl at both the regional and national levels. The school also sends an interested student to the National Geographic Geography Bee each year. Many students participate in a local Robotics team, as well as in Jr. Iron Chef competitions.
