’07 Grad Researching Hydrothermal Vents

The Sharon Academy nurtures “intelligent, independent, and creative thinking to develop the compassionate citizens and leaders that our world needs.” But what happens once our graduates leave our campus? We rely on news, word of mouth, family members and our graduates themselves to tell us. Of course, most of all, we love to hear from our alumni, as we did from Hannah Roberts, Class of 2017, who wrote:

“Perhaps it is ironic that while I was working at Dartmouth College after graduating from TSA, I never took the time to stop by to say hello. Now that I am living half a world away it occurs to me that I wouldn’t be where I am today were it not for TSA and the community surrounding it, so of course I would like to give back to that community if I can.

I have accepted a PhD candidate position in Marine Geochemistry at the University of Bremen in Germany and started my work in late June this year. Until the appointment ends in 2021 I’ll be researching shallow water hydrothermal vents (specifically mercury cycling), and will be traveling the world collecting samples. In two weeks we will be traveling to Italy for a short exploratory trip, and in October we will be in Greece. In the coming years we plan to also sample in the Azores, Iceland, Baja, New Zealand, and Japan.”

Congratulations, Hannah!
