TSA Head of School Search Update
February 13, 2019
Dear TSA Community,
Last month, Head of School Michael Livingston, announced to our community his plans for retiring from his position in June of 2020. The purpose of this letter is to update you regarding the steps that are being taken to carry out a thoughtful, intentional and transparent search for new head of school leadership.
Under the supervision of the Committee on Trustees (COT), a Search and Transition Committee has been selected and we have already begun our work. The Search/Transition committee includes student, parent, board, community and staff/faculty representation.
The purpose of the Search and Transition Committee is to recommend to the full board not more than 3 finalists for the Head of School position, allowing enough time for the full board to vet and interview finalists and for the selected head to give due notice to a current employer with a target start date of 7-1-2020.
The Search and Transition Committee will meet every two to three weeks and will report regularly to both the Committee on Trustees and the Full Board. After assessing Michael Livingston’s current duties and reviewing previous transition work conducted by staff and faculty, the Search Committee shall make recommendations to the Full Board that will incorporate search strategy, process, timeline, deliverables and necessary public-facing documents.
As the search process unfolds in the coming months we will continue to share updates with the TSA community.
