Alumna making a difference through art

Rosemary Connelli TSA ’14 was recently profiled in Emerging Creatives of Science for her work as an artist in support of the education and awareness of conservancy, specifically for marine environments and cetaceans. Her business Connelli Designs includes the creation of artwork for sale to the public as well as projects with conservation groups and researchers to help communicate through visual language.

Rosemary recalls, “During my time as a student at The Sharon Academy, I quickly began to explore my interests in the arts, and how to visually communicate artwork when words may not suffice. For my senior year exhibition, I focused my final studies on art therapy, and how utilizing artwork can help individuals express themselves through nonverbal mediums such as painting and drawing.”

Today, Rosemary uses her skills in printmaking and graphic design to help environmental-based organizations visually communicate and transform research into educational materials for the general public. “The fine art-based electives and classes in scientific studies at TSA deeply shaped my career and my identity. I am grateful and privileged to have spent my younger years in a school institution that excels in uplifting and listening to students’ educational interests, and to be guided by teachers who cared about the future and the wellbeing of their students.”

The Sharon Academy is very proud of Rosemary!
