2023 Phoenix Phest Puzzle
For the second year, The Sharon Academy has celebrated the year with a community gathering dubbed Phoenix Phest. As part of the event, a student has created an original work of art that is then made into a puzzle with unique pieces cut into shapes meaningful to TSA. Kailey Ekegren ’23 was this year’s artist.
“I decided to paint the Sharon Academy Phoenix in green to represent our school colors, and flying around a globe held up by two hands to reflect the end of the mission statement: ‘the difference they can make in the world’. The Phoenix holds onto a paintbrush, referencing ‘creative thinking’. The ring around the globe represents students being able to be their genuine selves at TSA. This includes kids who are neurodivergent and/or LBGTQIA+ who are represented by the rainbow, while the yellow beneath the globe symbolizes the ability to safely and comfortably express oneself and one’s emotions, as well as the joy that comes with that.”
The puzzle was revealed at the June 4, 2023, Phoenix Phest. People are encouraged to donate to TSA by “buying” a puzzle piece. Pieces are priced differently, with edge pieces and the special TSA pieces priced at a premium.
