TSA creates Assistant Head of School role

Kate Fabrikant has been named to a new role at The Sharon Academy. As of the 2022-23 school year, she will be the Assistant Head of School, subsuming her role as Director of Human Resources.

Kate started at TSA in 2009 as its first full-time school counselor. Ten years later, in 2019, she moved into a part-time role as 504 Coordinator as she was anticipating her second child. After maternity leave in 2020, she became the Director of Human Resources.  In this role, Kate demonstrated leadership and organizational skills to introduce many important systems and protocols, including job descriptions, reviews, equity policies, and more. As a member of the Administrative Team, Kate regularly adds important insight to discussions and takes the lead on initiatives.

The role of the Assistant Head of School was designed to enable the Head of School to focus on larger questions of institutional strategy and financial health. Head of School Mary Newman observed, “As I have acclimated to the Head of School position over the past two years it has become clear to me that I need someone to help manage the operational details that have consumed much of my time so that I can work on long-term strategic thinking for the school and also support teachers in moving the implementation of Deeper Learning forward.”

Because this particular position is so closely related to the needs of the Head of School, it was advertised internally and Kate was the clear choice. Her commitment to TSA, its students, staff, and families, is truly outstanding, and her extraordinary attention to detail as well as her ability to hold the big picture make her a perfect match for this role. “I am incredibly grateful to Kate for her dedication to our school, and so excited for our partnership going forward,” beamed Mary Newman.
