Fascinating Student Project Documents Life of White River

TSA student, Wednesday Gillespie, ’19, completed a fascinating final project for her Woodland Ecology class project. See her guide map to the White River between Sharon and West Hartford. Her photos during the month of May document the changes in the land surrounding the river and in the river itself. Starting at the top of the map, click on the icons along the river to see images and read more about her project and about the river’s history, geology and biology.  Most of the images will take you to a folder with more like them, specific to the place you are exploring. To change the base map you are viewing, click the 4-square on the tool panel.  42594341942_64a723d772_q

I researched the history, geology and biology, and rode my bike up and down in order to document the White River. I began taking pictures May 2 and finished May 30, 2018, and in that one month the river as well as the surrounding land changed dramatically, as is reflected in some of these pictures.
I created this map with the hope that people could learn more about the river right next to them, so that they could explore it and come to appreciate it the way I do.
