Poetry Out Loud-1/31/19, 6:30pm

Poetry Out Loud

Thursday, January 31, 6:30pm
TSA High School Moore Hall

Join our students for an evening of selected poetry reading.

Created by The National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation contest that encourages the study of great poetry by offering educational materials and a dynamic recitation competition to high schools across the country. Beginning at the classroom level, winners advance to a school-wide competition, then to the state competitions in February and March, and then to the national finals in Washington, DC,  April 30-May 1. The NEA and the Poetry Foundation provide program materials.
Opportunities such as Poetry Out Loud encourage participation in the arts, expose our nation’s youth to great poetry, develop public-speaking skills and build self-confidence. Students also learn about literary history and contemporary life.
We are thrilled that Chard deNiord,* Vermont’s Poet Laureate, will be attending our event and giving a presentation.
Our TSA judges for the evening will be Ina Anderson*, Patrick Gillespie*, Kayleigh Rodig and Ted Scheu*,
