10th Grade Post Secondary Checklist
10th Grade Goals:
Challenge yourself. Continue to learn about your strengths and challenges. Step outside your comfort zone. Develop a mentee/mentor relationship with an adult at TSA.
Fall/Winter of 10th grade
- Take the PSAT at TSA in 10th grade
- Attend the information sessions at TSA to learn about Technical and Career Centers nearby and see if they could be a good fit for you.
- If interested in playing varsity sports in college,
- create an account on NCAA.
- keep video footage and statistics of athletic accomplishments.
- reach out to potential college coaches with statistics so they have the option to see you play in games during 11th grade.
- meet with TSA’s athletic director to discuss your ability and interests
- If you enjoy art, attend a portfolio day locally or in Boston to get feedback on your work and your portfolio. It can be an important tool as you apply to college.
Spring/Summer of 10th Grade
- Prepare your 11th grade schedule so that you are challenging yourself and working towards completing the graduation requirements.
- Attend the May information session to learn about dual enrollment. Think about how/if you want to incorporate them into your 11th and 12th grade schedules
- Learn about enrichment programs such as Governors Institute Vermont, summer camps, summer coursework on college campuses.
- Learn how your family can pay for college. Talk to your bank or financial advisor.
- Become familiar with the price of college by completing a Net Price Calculator on any college website.
- Get a job and/or volunteer.
Fall of 11th Grade
- Attend a college fair. TSA takes all juniors and seniors to the annual NEACAC College Fair in September.
- PSAT/NMSQT test administered at TSA in october
- Visit with a minimum of 2 college representatives who come to TSA The schedule is posted on Naviance, in the newsletter, and at All School Meeting.
