Dual Enrollment

What is dual enrollment?
Students can take college classes while enrolled in high school. These classes can produce evidence toward high school graduation AND can often be counted as college credit when the student moves on to college.
Why would I participate in dual enrollment?
Dual enrollment allows students to explore a wide range of classes that are not offered at TSA. Students can explore an area of interest OR start taking classes in their intended major. Some courses that students have taken in the past include Drawing, Intro to Cultural Anthropology, Intro to Psychology, Nutrition, Anatomy, and Physiology. By taking college courses in high school students can also reduce the cost of college and their college debt.
What is the cost?
11th and 12th graders who live in Vermont and whose town pays the TSA tuition are eligible for vouchers to take 2 dual enrollment courses for FREE. Talk with Director of College and Career Advising Wendy Bordeau for more details and instructions. You must start the process with Ellen in order to take the class for free.
When can I take classes?
To be eligible for the vouchers, students can take classes beginning the summer BEFORE 11th grade until their final semester at TSA. Students may take classes during the summer, fall, or spring!
Where can I take classes?
Students can take courses at almost any Vermont college or University. Click here for a full list. In the past, most students have taken courses at Community College of Vermont, Vermont Technical College and University of Vermont.
How do I find out what classes are offered?
After you create a dual enrollment account, you can use a search function to look for classes. An alternative route is to access the semester class offerings and schedule at each college or university website. For example, here are links to some Vermont colleges:
Bennington College
