High School

At The Sharon Academy High School (TSA), students are more than names on a roster. In our small, relationship-driven learning community, students are known deeply by educators who serve not just as teachers, but as mentors, coaches, and advocates.

We believe high school should be a time of discovery—of self, purpose, and possibility. TSA’s hybrid model of public and private education blends academic challenge with personal exploration, empowering students to think critically, grow confidently, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.

How We Know You

At TSA High School, we begin truly getting to know students from their very first day—starting with a Learner Profile conference and continuing through four years of personal connection and support.

Students are placed into Advisory groups—small, consistent peer cohorts led by a faculty member who serves as a trusted mentor, advocate, and guide throughout the student’s high school experience.

By the time students graduate, their Advisor introduces them at our signature graduation ceremony, where each senior delivers a self-written speech—a reflection of how much they’ve grown.

With our small class sizes, teachers provide personalized instruction, suggest individualized opportunities, and support students’ unique learning styles and goals. Whether that means joining the Robotics Team, researching fashion in Renaissance history, or learning guitar for a performance at Open Mic Night, students are encouraged to make their education their own.

How We Value You

We cultivate a safe, inclusive, and respectful school culture where every student feels seen and supported. We celebrate diversity in all its forms and create spaces for students to show up as their full selves.

  • Weekly All-School Meetings, led by students, foster open communication, mutual respect, and collective responsibility.
  • Faculty connections beyond the classroom—as coaches, club leaders, and elective instructors—broaden how students and teachers relate to one another.
  • The All-School Musical, a TSA tradition, transforms the entire school into a creative production company. Students lead every part of the process—from set design and choreography to sound, lighting, and performance—building community and leadership along the way.

How We Challenge You

TSA High School delivers a proficiency-based, academically rigorous education that prepares students for college, career, and civic life.

Real-World Learning

Our curriculum is problem-focused and project-based, helping students develop essential academic skills while engaging with authentic, real-world questions.

Exhibition/ Capstone Project

Each senior completes a capstone Exhibition project that includes written, visual, and oral components. With support from a faculty mentor, students conduct research, build an argument, and publicly present their findings—showcasing their growth, independence, and readiness for life beyond high school.

Leadership Opportunities

Students are encouraged to lead in many areas of school life. They may:

  • Serve on the Board of Trustees
  • Design and teach elective classes
  • Lead school clubs, events, and trips
  • Take charge of aspects of the All-School Musical
  • Mentor younger students and collaborate with faculty

Community Engagement

Students are expected to participate in community service as a way to practice responsible citizenship, empathy, and initiative. These experiences strengthen skills like collaboration, reliability, and self-direction.

Athletics and Physical Expression

TSA does not offer traditional PE classes. Instead, students fulfill their physical education requirements through team sports, outdoor electives, and club activities. With a no-cut policy, every student is welcome—regardless of experience. Our athletic programs build teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit.

What Guides Our Students: TSA’s 7 Gateway Standards

From their first day through graduation, students are supported in developing a set of core competencies that guide both academic and personal growth:

  1. Acquire: Gather and evaluate information critically
  2. Reason: Think deeply and build logical arguments
  3. Design: Solve problems creatively
  4. Communicate: Share ideas clearly and effectively
  5. Self-Direct:  Take charge of learning and growth Engage – Act as thoughtful, responsible community members
  6. Sustain: Care for emotional, physical, and social well-being These standards are integrated across all classes, projects, and experiences—helping students not only master academic content but also become adaptable, reflective, and self-aware individuals.

The TSA Graduate

TSA High School graduates are:

  • Confident in their abilities
  • Articulate in expressing their thoughts and ideas
  • Collaborative as teammates and problem-solvers
  • Empowered to lead in their communities and beyond.

They leave TSA ready to thrive in college, career, and life—with a strong sense of purpose and the courage to make a meaningful impact.

Dual Enrollment & Early College

The Vermont Agency of Education offers a Flexible Pathway Initiative where TSA students can earn college credit during high school, often at no cost, while gaining experience in a post-secondary academic environment.

College & Career Planning

The goal of college and career advising is to provide students with the time, support, and diverse opportunities to explore and implement post-secondary plans.

TSA’s college and career advising program is unique from other high schools in that learning about a variety of post- secondary options is part of the weekly curriculum for juniors and seniors. For a majority of students, this will result in applying to college during their senior year of high school.

While some students may not take this path, they will be armed with the skills and information to make informed choices when they are ready.
